On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 54th convocation ceremony of IIT-Kanpur where he introduced the blockchain-driven degree transfer technology with which digital degrees were offered to the students. The ceremony was conducted in hybrid mode and Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister also attended the event as the guest of honor.
The students who didn’t partake in the function physically got digital degrees through an in-house blockchain-driven technology created at the institute under the National Blockchain Project.
PM praised IIT-Kanpur for creating blockchain-driven degree transfer tech and also the institute’s roles in contributing to 5G tech. He bestowed medals to 2 meritorious students, who were physically present during the event.
Narendra Modi also relied on the use of tech in many domains like climate and energy solutions, health infrastructure, high-tech infrastructure, disaster management and also highlighted the significance and use of the Internet of Things (IOT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
