The luxurious airline company of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Emirates Airlines, has declared that it will soon enable Bitcoin as a viable payment option. The airline plans to utilize innovative digital technologies like metaverse, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies as a part of its intention to connect with customers.
The airline’s COO noted the multiple applications and methodologies for NFTs and metaverse when discussing at the Arabian Travel Market. It stated that Emirates would try to utilize blockchain technology to track the information of flights.
As per statistics, the UAE transacts roughly $25 billion every year on cryptocurrency. Specifically, from July 2020 to June 2021, UAE placed third in the Middle Eastern region in terms of volumes of crypto traded, following Lebanon ($26 billion) and Turkey ($132.4 billion).
After plummeting over this week, Bitcoin has been trading roughly 4 percent up in the past 24 hours. The cryptocurrency is trading at $30,262.38.
