The Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) is ready to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Technology – Kanpur to explore opportunities in blockchain technology and to onboard the institution as its ‘knowledge partner.’

According to an official, with efforts by Arvind Singh, KDA vice president, KDA is ready to become the first development authority to utilize blockchain technology. The MoU will be signed on September 5 (Teacher’s Day).

The official further added that a meeting between IIT Professor Dr. Manindra Agrawal and Singh took place on Saturday and decisions regarding the use of the technology by KDA was taken during the meeting. As per S B Rai, the Public Relations Officer of KDA, blockchain technology is intended to be utilized for the ease of the general public and to safeguard KDA properties from fraud, and for transparent/easy use of each property.
