‘Building Future Cities’, a 2-day blockchain hackathon will be organized in Bengaluru from August 5.
Who is organizing this hackathon?
The hackathon is held by cryptocurrency investing application CoinSwitch, in association with ‘Startup Karnataka’, a Karnataka Government initiative, and Tejasvi Surya, Member of Parliament (Bengaluru South). The hackathon is also encouraged by Sequoia India.
What does the hackathon aim to do?
The organizers said that the hackathon will challenge partakers to visualize a blockchain-boosted India, with a focus on energy trading and credits, smart mobility, decentralized waste management, transparent and efficient vaccine distribution, and secure digital identity and certificate management, among others.
What will the winners receive?
The winners will get prize money of INR 3 lakhs, with the total prize pool of the hackathon set at INR 6 lakhs. Partakers can enter the competition in a team of up to 4 members or personally.
Why Karnataka is chosen for the hackathon?
According to the IT Minister of Karnataka, Ashwath Narayan C N, Karnataka is the torchbearer of Digital India. The state has an amazing track record of close collaboration between entrepreneurs and the government. The hackathon allows the state to carry this success story to the blockchain, the next frontier of technology, and empowers young innovators to use the power of blockchain for the public good.
