In a recent turn of events, the former US president, Donald Trump, has taken a U-turn regarding his assertions on Bitcoin. As he was strongly opposing the cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin in his tenure, has now accepted the fate that he can “live with it” and acknowledges its demand.
During an interview on Fox News, Trump stated that the US dollar remains his preferred currency when asked if he thought the rise of the Chinese currency was a good thing.
“I have a preference for the dollar, but it seems that more and more people are using Bitcoin. It has become quite popular and has taken on a life of its own. Some regulations may be necessary, but many people are accepting it as a form of payment. It’s an interesting trend, and I am seeing more and more people expressing a desire to pay with Bitcoin. Ultimately, I am open to either option.”
There are some speculations in the crypto community that Trump’s recent change in attitude towards Bitcoin might be politically motivated, as he is currently campaigning as a candidate for the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Some believe that he is trying to attract more votes from the growing crypto industry.
However, others argue that Trump is simply doing what he does best, which is not fully committing to one side or the other.
